A hundred years of prision: indigenous people from Mato Grosso do Sul in prision
Keywords:
Indigenous people, . Human right, ImprisonmentAbstract
This article was elaborated based on the research “The incarceration of indigenous people from the south of Mato Grosso: from the Icatu to the Dourados State Penitentiary” (PENTEADO JUNIOR & AGUILERA URQUIZA, 2020). In the methodological field, ethnographic, genealogical, documentary research and life history were used, with quantitative and qualitative aspects. In development, it was confirmed that the imprisonment of indigenous peoples from Mato Grosso do Sul has been used by the Republican State since its inception and even though, commonly eclipsed, it surrounds the specter of the despoil of traditionally occupied lands. When incarcerated, they move through a flawed legal system of unconstitutionality, a moment in which guaranteed rights are creepily ignored in the face of ethnocentric
convictions on the part of some operators of the power.
