Abstract

Managing information and data efficiently is essential to promoting security, transparency, and the effectiveness of public policies aimed at social reintegration. It is possible to identify patterns, anticipate risks, and direct resources more strategically by managing data such as inmate profiles, access to prison services inside and outside prison. As a contribution to a productive debate on the Fair Sentence Plan, this research describes the European experience in developing and implementing state-of-the-art criminal enforcement support systems, as well as possible solutions to the issues identified in the Fair Sentence Plan. This is the Horus 360 iOMS project, led by IPS_Innovative Prison Systems supported by the National Innovation Agency, the Portuguese Government and the European Union European Regional Development Fund.
